Hopefully I can have this wrapped up soon and have it built at microcenter today or tomorrow. Here's the new build. I doubt I'll ever need more than 64GB but some say it's better to leave 2 slots open for a less expensive upgrade just in case.

Here's both options and the motherboard. Thank you. I recommend going with the 2 sticks of 32GB. The benefits for going with 4x RAM sticks are if your system supports Quad Channel RAM which your motherboard does not support, you would be getting the same speeds as the 2 sticks of 32GB. Sorry just one more question to finalize is the motherboard.

Again I'm getting a lot of different info and not sure which to buy. The X also has two USB 3. However the B does come with WiFi built in. Unless you have specific needs for those extra features on the X, then there's no practical difference between. They'll perform the same. I was reading on a custom trading computer site that's been in business over 10 years that doesn't use anything other than Asus because of reliability they said and just about every part in this build they use and I got multiple confirmations from different places including you that the parts look good.

So I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something in the motherboard especially since everything is connecting to it. I see that the B was released this year vs last year for the x so I guess the newer technology is an advantage too. As far as the thing you mentioned with the differences I'm guessing they probably won't matter to me. Maybe the extra 4. B is kind of the "budget" option compared to X It lacks a few of the features X has but those features don't make a difference for most users, like PCIe 4.

On that note, PCIe 4. Unless you're planning on using PCIe 4. That helps me understand better. I don't plan on doing what you're doing with M. That actually brings up another point. I was originally going to go with 2 M. Someone else told me it's better to have 1TB anyway because when the drive starts to fill up it becomes slower. The reason I was going to have a 2nd was because I was told many years ago it's better to have all data on a data d drive to keep the c drive clean.

So that's what I've been doing since Now I'm wondering if I can get an additional 2. Or am I just overthinking this whole thing and not even matter anymore to keep the C drive clean these days? Again, I 'm mainly concerned with causing more issues by introducing a 2. I usually do this for people with smaller SSDs. This means anything that goes into those folders doesn't have to be manually moved off your SSD after the fact, it's just seamless.

But your documents and any desktop items you're working with are stored on the SSD for max performance. And leaving open nVME slots is optimal for later expansions. Fyi, the B aorus pro uses the pcie x4 electrical slot bandwidth for the 2nd m2 drive, so you won't be able to use that slot for much if you go with that board. You save some space to leave room open for future expansion. I would only go with multiple drives if I specifically wanted to look for some kind of RAID setup or simply because I was running out of storage on my existing drives and needed to add more.

Or if I wanted to have a dedicated drive for backup purposes. Running an extra 2. Better to have it and not use it than to need it and not have it. I'm just going to stick with the 1TB M. I guess the days of keeping data on a 2nd D drive to keep the c drive clean to perform better are gone.

Also, all my backups are going on the 8tb drives so I was only going to use the 2. Thanks for all your help. Please let us know if you have any other questions. When I booted it up it worked fine and did so until after about 5 hours or so the display ran into an issue and became this. Ever since then I haven't been able to use the computer for more than about 10 - 15 minutes before the display glitches again.

Every time I restart my computer it goes back to normal, but never stays normal. What's going on with my computer and can I fix it on my own or do I have to return it for a new one? During those initial 5 hours of use, do you recall performing any updates on the system Windows updates, Nvidia GPU driver updates, installing additional hardware of any kind, etc? If so, I would recommend reverting them for now.

To rule out the monitor, we can simply try a different display such as an extra monitor or a television, however I am pretty confident that this is not the monitor. It looks to be artifacting or some kind of frame buffer corruption. Let's start by completely uninstalling your GPU driver and installing a clean driver. Run that and extract the program to an easily accessible place. It's recommended to run it in safe mode, however this is not a strict requirement.

Step 2: Download the latest Nvidia driver directly from Nvidia's website. As of this post, the latest driver is version Step 3: Install the graphics driver and reboot the system. Step 4: Attempt to replicate the issue by using the system as you normally would. If the steps above do not resolve the issue, I can say with complete confidence that it's not a display driver issue. The only other option would be to completely reinstall Windows to rule out any corrupted system files or conflicts, or exchange the system as it's likely a hardware issue at that point.

Do not worry about your Windows 10 activation key, it's embedded in the motherboard firmware and will automatically activate when connected to a network. If you have any questions, please let us know. I have been a driver all my life. Starting from high school, driving tow trucks for my dad, then taxi cabs, delivering pizza, flowers, blood for the red cross, auto parts and finally a limousine driver.

About 10 years ago i sort of turned a friend i met at a homeless shelter into a geek. He went north to the top of the thumb in Michigan and i stayed in the Detroit area as we both aquired disability from Social Security. I remote into his box weekly and we both have fun, me repairing less and less, yet talking computers like we both used to do repairing cars.

The store had 2 in stock. We both wanted them so i logged into my account to place them on hold. And Just that quick, a click, and only one was availible. So i looked at another store.

Michigan only has the one in Madison Heights. The Cleveland store had the same monitor. Am i driving to Cleveland? You bet. Used to have an account where we went there for clients with the sedan service limousines. It was old times taking the back way in, hugging the coast past Toledo all the way.

Forget the turnpike. When i get there this nice fella checked me out and i told him the story. He said he was from Belleville, Mi and did i know where it was? Well, included in my history i used to train drivers, i said Rawsonville Rd. He said i guess you do! I hightailed out of there shifting all 5 gears of my Z24, took the backway again, through Toledo, past Detroit, up into Bad Axe, MI in the tip of the thumb and delivered the monitor.

Knocked on the door and said Micro Center delivery at your service. All three of us had a blast! Love the dedication to get to our stores especially for the perfect product purchase! Used for gaming, mostly Apex Legends , light video editing and streaming video. I would love a better keyboard, and my monitor could use some upsizing.

My favourite bit of kit is my Acer Monitor, 27inch, hz and 1ms response time make it amazing for gaming. I've got a relatively cheap mouse and keyboard that was bought from Amazon, which disconnect randomly, so could really do with an upgrade! I've practically been living at this desk since the entire pandemic started. I use this setup mainly just for gaming and chilling with the friends, but i also do stream a couple days out of the week during my free time just for the added fun.

My Favorite peripheral would have to be my yeti mic. It sounds amazing and i absolutely love the customization options it has. I would love to upgrade my headset i currently use the hyper x cloud 2s, but i would love to try the new wireless Logitech headset that was just released.

My other upgrade would have to be my mousepad because i would like a full sized mouse and keyboard mat. I have a Reddragon k keyboard, a Reddragon M mouse, an xbox one controller and a fifine microphone, I use a very small mouse pad and a hz monitor this is all mounted on a night table.

I tried to locate the gamecenter files on the platter drive, and was able to install the gaming center, but it is missing all of the buttons at the bottom of the screen, like the FAN settings, keyboard settings, etc.

I don't remember all the buttons available, but I know there was a lot more than zero. Does anyone have a direct link to a download for the gaming center with all the appropriate apps attached? Thanks, one pissed of veteran! Last edited by toronto; at PM.

Just click start, search for ASUS folder then open asus instal. Tags for this Thread gaming center.
